Wouldn’t it be great if bloggers all over the world, in one collective voice, with a combined readership of millions, were able to change the conversation for a day? Could we drown out the drivel that is force-fed to us through mass media?
I believe so, and that’s why Nice4Rice is participating in Blog Action Day,
On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.
There are already thousands of blogs registered and ready, including Problogger, Lifehacker, Dumb Little Man, Daily Blog Tips and eMoms at Home. This one’s going to be big, but if you still need convincing, here’s the promo video…
Register your blog at the official Blog Action Day website.

Looks like a nice initiative.
I think it’s a tremendous idea!!!If we don’t act now I think it will be too late!!!
Leonardo Di Caprio is involved in a new documentary call “The 11th hour”
Check it out on my blog!!!
This sounds like a worthwhile initiative, and with all the time we have between now and October 15th, I’m sure many of us will come up with some top notch posts.
Count me in
Glad you’re onboard, Jason.
It won’t be long before we see these Blog Action Day banners all over the place. At least I hope so! If this is going to work, bloggers need to hear about it.
Watching that video makes me want to play Sim City!
Interesting idea. Wonder who started this…
That would be a guy called Collis Ta’eed.
Nice one Spud! I’ll be doing my bit…
Having been a rampant banner-waving student, and now being in senior management (yeah, I’m a hypocrite!), I feel that nerds like me who respond to issues relating to the environment through online surveys have more of an impact on business/govt environmental policy and strategy than any of my scathing “hey-hey, ho-ho” choruses ever could
I’ve seen fear in the eyes of execs as survey results are presented on their brand or pilot product, while the same execs would just sneer at us as a rabble of chanting ferals in the street.
Don’t get me wrong, we still need hippies. Despite their shower aversions, they’re usually the ones who are switched onto issues way before anyone else has thought about them. We also definitely need the things like Blog Action Day to amplify the buzz… but for better or worse, it’s the survey takers who end up shaping the world!
(insert maniacal laughter to fade)
Yeah, but taking surveys isn’t nearly as much fun as marching up and down, waving a placard. But, as you said, it’s probably more effective and you might even get paid for it!
[…] first heard about Blog Action Day through Spud over at Nice4Rice and, after a quick read through the site, it sounds like a great […]
Whoever initiated that idea that all bloggers will unite and talk about the environment for one day is one of a kind genius. Very nice idea indeed.
Spud, did you made the video yourself? Cool…
LOL, I wish! Then you could call me Spud Spielberg!
Count me in Spud Spielberg!
