After I upgraded this blog to the latest version of Wordpress, the “Incoming Links” box in the Wordpress dashboard failed to update. This left me having to click on the “More” link everytime to check for incoming links on Technorati. While this is all well and good, there had to be a better way…
How to check your incoming links without logging into your dashboard
It may be obvious to some, but if you subscribe to your incoming linksĀ on Technorati, you can check who is linking to your blog from your RSS feed reader. Here’s how to do it:
First, log into your Wordpress Dashboard and click the “More” link in the “Incoming Links” box.

Second, when you are on your Technorati page, click the orange RSS icon within your browser to subscribe.

Finally, check your feed reader (iGoogle in my case) to see your incoming links!

If you see that the links are different, that’s probably because of the delay in fetching the feed. Although in my case, the links showing in iGoogle are more up-to-date than those on my Technorati page!

Great tip! I’ve noticed that my WP dashboard hasn’t been updating recently and have been having some flaky performance at Technorati. I just added this to my RSS reader though so it will be interesting to watch. Thanks!
Cheers Derek. I was looking around the WP Support forums for a solution to the updating problem, but all the threads were really old and “unresolved”. This little workaround is even more convenient though.
I’ve noticed the lack of updates within the WP dashboard as well. Thanks for the workaround Spud!
interesting! thanks for posting this!
In this post i founded the solution. The blog is in spanish but only need change one line of wp-admin/index.php or wp-admin/index-extra.php
Thanks Eleion! That worked! I now have my incoming links showing again and updating!
Note to self: I’m using WP 2.2.1, and in index-extra.php, I changed the first block of text for the second from the site Eleion suggested.
Excellent, this solved all my problems! Well okay, maybe just one minor problem. But either way, it’s solved.
