According to our aussie friend Dan, kangaroos have a tendency to eat babies. That’s just one of the things I learned on my visit to The Wrong Advices, a blog about Life, the Universe and Everything, except interpretive dance.
Before you jump up and down about “advice” being an uncountable noun, The Wrong Advices is a quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger. So if it’s good enough for Arnie, it should be good enough for us… and there are a lot more good things on TWA.
Browsing through Dan’s list of “Popular Posts”, you’ll find some great articles on productive blogging, building backlinks, and the advantages of being a girl on MyBlogLog. For this review though, I thought I’d focus on two of my favorite posts from The Wrong Advices.
First up then is Dan’s Open Comments idea. Quite simply, he allows his readers to comment about anything (within reason), and then he posts the highlights the following day. I think this is brilliant. How many times have you wanted to ask a blogger a question, but decided not to because it wasn’t related to the post? How often have you seen annoying, off-topic questions on a comment board? An Open Comments ‘post’ is a great way to generate some free discussion.
Secondly, Dan has written a super article called “Blogging is harder than you think“. He talks about why many of the 50 million blogs on the web have either been abandoned or are rarely updated. Listing reasons such as difficulty in writing regularly, not seeing any results, losing interest, and burnout, Dan addresses these problems and suggest ways to overcome them. If you are suffering from any of the above, I suggest you take a look at The Wrong Advices…..just stay away from the vegemite! Dan says it contains roasted koala hearts!

Maybe you can review my site next, Spud? Hehehe…
This site is really cool! Will link this up!
Thanks Sasha, I don’t know about ‘next’, but I’ll get round to your blog eventually… my list is growing!
Why won’t you review mine too? I have two sites..;-)

Thanks
talksmart, maybe I will… maybe.
It’s hard for me to take advice from a site named The Wrong Advices but there really are some good advice there!
The best bloggers are Aussie bloggers
Thanks for the review spud. You’ve got a great style of writing. I just hate being reminded how silly the name of the blog is.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I registered it.
Kelly I’m considering changing the tagline of my blog to “Deliciously Ironic” or something similar. Maybe “Surprisingly Ironic”. I’m not sure. I need to find a way to turn a negative into a positive.
Coach I’m just starting to realise how many high profile bloggers are aussie. For instance, I only just realised last week that Darren Rowse was an aussie. I don’t know how I missed that.
Dan, I wouldn’t worry about the name. Because of the irony, it makes it more memorable. I suppose one suggestion would be to change your own name to Daniel Wrong, but that would just be silly.
I love the recent overhaul! Looks great!
This site is really cool..
Koala hearts or no koala hearts, Vegemite is the food of the gods!
It’s that godawful Fosters beer that you’ve gotta look out for. The head is 100% pure platypus sputum!
