Years ago, a high school education was enough to get a good job, so everyone went to high school. Those wanting even better jobs went to university, and everyone followed. Now, university education isn’t enough, you have to prove to potential employers that you’re the best in your class, and to do that you need a first class degree.
When I went to university, I found myself following my peers. I would wake up, sit through a few lectures, taking notes and faking interest. My goal was simply to get through the day so I could hang out with my friends at the student bar and drink cheap beer. In my first year, I never really thought about why I was at university, it was just natural progression from high school.
It wasn’t until my final year that I realized the importance of what I was doing and I had a lot of catching up to do. By that time though, it was too late and I had to settle for an upper-second class honors. Not too shabby, but I know I could’ve gotten a first if I had had better guidance.
When Jez asked me to take a look at his other site, Get a First Class Degree, I thought he was trying to sell me a fake online degree, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. This is a blog devoted to guiding students toward the highest obtainable grade possible on a bachelor’s degree course, and who better to give that advice than a guy who recently graduated with a score of 83 pecent?
Jez covers issues such as avoiding those much despised spammy and fake online degrees, and gives plenty of advice on finding reputable universities offering distance learning courses. His post on the value of an online degree is a worthwhile read, as many employers are sceptical about certificates earned online.
Once you’ve chosen a course, whether it be online or actually attending a brick-and-mortar university, you’ll need to know the best way to manage your time and get ahead of your studies. The articles presented in the blog’s Time and Efficiency category are the perfect place to start. Jez talks about note-taking, touch-typing, using past exam papers, working to a schedule and even avoiding freeloaders!
I would certainly recommend checking out How to get a First Class Degree if you are planning to study, or are doing so now. Otherwise, give Jez some rice to help others find this review!

Hi Spud,
Thanks for that, I wasnt sure what you would make of that site either!
The focus is not online degrees, but improving performance at University, it just happens Ive added a few posts on the subject of online degree’s recently….
Anyway, Ill write a review of this site later in the week from SiteLogic, Ill let you know when its done in case you miss the ping back!
Thanks again,
BTW when you have time you may want to do this one also:
http://www.eleganttechnology.co.uk/
Its a small blog run by a friend of mine, it doesnt have much content as he is very particular about what he posts, but he has recently been cited in some blogs run by professional magazines which he is quite pleased about!
Hi Jez, you really don’t have to write a review of Nice4Rice, unless of course you want to! In which case, if you did, you might want to mention getting free backlinks by voting
I looked at Elegant Technology, but it’s all Apple! I’m not anti-apple, but just have no experience with their products. If your friend wants to review his own site, I’ll post it (with some Spud comments).
Hi Spud,
Ill review your site, I think its a good idea, besides, a site reveiw like that would cost $40 on reveiw me, and although I doubt you have much traffic yet, the SEO value of these things is more important than direct referrals, as I am sure you appreciate.
Anyway, enough chat, I need some Rice
Jez
Spud,
Nice touch with thumbnail of site. I have been doing same with my reviews. It breaks up the text and is an easy way add graphics to site.
Yeah I noticed that on your site and this one and will be using that in future too…
Jez
I cant believe your still using “Wireless Lan Security” in your commnets
Just wait for Spud to reveiw your site
I’ll get round to it eventually!
How many have you got in the pipeline?
Whats the method behind your madness with this site BTW?
Oh yeah, you might want to get the alexa toolbar to give your rank a lift while your working on the site…. comes in handy for affilliate entry etc if you ever want to sign up for anything in the future, there is a FF plugin available which I wrote about on my site, that has the link for the download, or you can link it off Alexa.com
I’ve got a few websites scribbled down that I’d like to review. The method behind my madness…hmm… just madness I’m afraid, no method to speak of. I’m having fun writing up these reviews, mostly because the site owners are really appreciative, and often link back. It makes me feel all warm and gooey.
I’ll check out that toolbar.
